This Rising Parisian Actress Is Redefining French-Girl Beauty

Despite her efforts to stay behind the camera, Lola Bessis, a 26-year-old Parisian filmmaker who developed a handful of fashion shorts for Chloé

 Picnic at Hanging Rock, a TV adaption of the book about three Australian schoolgirls who inexplicably disappear on Valentine's Day in 1900, will be available on Amazon Prime starting tomorrow. 

 Bessis plays Mademoiselle Dianne de Poitiers, a youthful and affectionate French instructor, which is apt given that she initially became interested in acting at the age of seven. 

 "I was shy and sad, but I realised that I could make people laugh and be hilarious.


Now, over two decades later, Bessis is on fire with roles in another thriller and a prospective movie that she is scripting. 

 "I'm often very tired and I have dark circles," the rising star confesses over the phone from Los Angeles, where her new series has just premiered.

 Makeup has come to her rescue, but with one proviso. "I like when you can't tell [it's on]—which I think is [very] French," she says of her daily skin-perfecting routine.

 Bioderma's Sensibio H2O is a favourite, she continues, followed by other Paname drugstore treasures like Avène's Thermal Spring Water Spray.
