Jared Goff wants to stay with Lions long-term despite NFC title loss; 'it's not up to me'

The Detroit Lions' new franchise quarterback, Jared Goff, made money in 2023 despite the NFC Championship ending his amazing run.

NFL Media expects Goff contract extension talks to intensify this offseason. Spotrac says Goff has one more year on his contract with a $21.65 million basic pay in 2024.

The Lions briefly discussed extending their quarterback before the season. "I've loved every second of my time here, and would love more," Goff told Mlive.com Monday.

"I love Dan Campbell, my coaches, and my teammates. It would be fantastic. It's not my call."

The only NFL quarterback to end decade-long playoff droughts for two teams was Goff this season.

He was the 10th starting quarterback with different clubs to reach the conference title game.

Spotrac's market value tool predicts a four-year, $149,853,080 agreement with a $37.4 million AAV for Goff. Goff would rank 15th in annual QB pay under that contract.

Goff helped the Lions win two playoff games. Detroit had only one postseason win in 65 seasons.
