MJD: Dan Campbell stated 'one of the realest things I've ever heard a coach say' after losing to the 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers, who were playing in the NFC Championship for the third year in a row — but the first at Levi's Stadium

 — hoped that home-field advantage would help them win and advance to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

The Detroit Lions didn't receive the memo and dominated the 49ers in the first half. It wasn't close; Detroit was on a different level.

Fortunately for the 49ers, as demonstrated last week in the divisional round, these games last four quarters.

San Francisco overcame a 17-point deficit in the second half, scoring 27 straight points to win the NFC Championship Game 34-31 on Sunday and go to the Super Bowl.

With the victory, the 49ers reach the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2019 season.

San Francisco will make its eighth trip in the championship game, and if they win, they will tie the Steelers and Patriots for the most championships ever.

After an ugly first half, the 49ers received a gutsy performance from quarterback Brock Purdy, who completed 20-of-31 passes for 267 yards and one touchdown.
